M S Benbow & Associates Gives Back to Community this Holiday Season
Company sponsors Special Olympics fundraiser, conducts food, toy drive
METAIRIE, La.—Dec. 17, 2018—Engineering consultancy M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) is spreading holiday cheer with a variety of philanthropic efforts benefiting groups that aim to improve the Greater New Orleans community over the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Each year MSB contributes to charitable initiatives at the holidays, including a Thanksgiving drive, Christmas toy drive, Special Olympics of Louisiana fundraiser, as well as the United Way Annual Giving Campaign.
“Committing to positively influencing our community through our company and personal activities is a core value at MSB,” said MSB President Leo L. Holzenthal, Jr., P.E. “The holiday season is a reminder of how much we at MSB have to be thankful for, and each year we strive to make a difference through initiatives that support families in need in our community.”
MSB Community Involvement
MSB partnered with Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans to adopt four families to support during the Thanksgiving holiday. For this effort, MSB employees donated supplies to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for each of the families served by the Travelers Aid Society to enjoy, including turkeys, side dishes and even dessert. Travelers Aid Society is a non-profit organization serving more than 4,000 individuals annually that works to prevent homelessness in the New Orleans region through emergency mortgage and rental assistance, crisis intervention counseling, food, and job placement support.
In addition, this month MSB was a main sponsor of NOLA Over the Edge: SWAT Edition, benefiting the Special Olympics of Louisiana. A team of MSB engineers and support staff teamed up to raise funds for Special Olympics Louisiana athletes for the NOLA Over the Edge challenge, which includes rappelling 25 stories down Benson Tower before riding by helicopter to participate in SWAT training at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Training Facility.
MSB employees also are contributing to a holiday toy drive, collecting toys, books and gifts for Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana, a non-profit serving families in need of accommodations while their children are treated at a nearby hospital.
Based in Metairie, La., MSB has four locations in Louisiana and Texas and more than 100 associates delivering integrated engineering services serving the industrial, government, institutional and energy sectors MSB employees participate each year in the United Way’s annual workplace giving campaign and in 2017 contributed nearly $20,000 combined to support United Way programs serving the Greater New Orleans, Houston and Dallas communities.
MSB team members are engaged with a variety of charitable organizations throughout the year, including Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, and Special Olympics, along with several workforce development and regional economic development associations.
