Civil & Structural Engineer
MSB seeks Civil & Structural Engineer. Duties include scoping the civil and structural portions of projects in conjunction with the project and/or department manager(s) and managing the civil and structural portions of project budget, schedule, and quality. Typical civil engineering duties include designing site development including grading, roadways, drainage, utilities, and erosion control, developing horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, cross sections, and performing earthwork calculations. Designing equipment foundations, such as radio towers, buildings, transformers, steel supports and developing and checking plan details with civil and structural designers is expected. Engineer will prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates, develop construction documents, special exhibits and specifications for use during construction.
Typical duties for the MSB Civil & Structural Engineer include designing load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as building and cable tray supports, and pipe racks, developing and checking plan details with structural designers and preparing design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates. The engineer will develop drawings or specifications for use during construction and ensures all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations and perform construction related services including shop drawing reviews, “requests for information” (RFI) responses and construction support/observance.
The desired Civil & Structural Engineer candidate will have 8+ years of experience as an engineer in the petrochemical/refinery industry. Candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, theories and industry standards including AISC, ACI, local building codes and federal standards. Ability to work independently and within a team environment to coordinate the application of civil and structural engineering principles. Minimum of bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering or related discipline with Professional Engineer license in Louisiana and Texas.
