M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) was founded in 1978 by Michael S. Benbow, P.E. with the mission of providing consulting and engineering services to industrial, petrochemical, governmental, and private industries. During the ’80s, MSB developed new technologies for its petrochemical clients and quickly established itself as a leading design and engineering firm. The company soon hired new talent and entered different industrial markets. Proud of its reputation for being forerunners of technology, the company pioneered the use of computer-aided drafting, design and engineering tools, being the first company in the New Orleans area to use AutoCAD and Intergraph on its projects.
M S Benbow & Associates expanded into a larger consulting firm in the ’90s as they grew their mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering divisions. Through its affiliate Benbow Construction Management, MSB successfully bid on and completed large construction projects such as the construction management of a $100 million 600-TPD methanol manufacturing facility. The company also entered the telecommunications industry by starting an engineering group focused on fiber optic, cellular, wireless- and wireline-network technologies.
Today, MSB is regarded as one of the top professional engineering and consulting firms in the region and has received numerous acknowledgements and awards over the years. In 2003, the firm received one of only three corporate recognition awards given by The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society. In 2008, MSB received the Best Application of Technology Award from the Louisiana Technical Council and the John Noll Crisp Award For Technical Excellence from the University of New Orleans. In 2010, the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport honored MSB as Passenger Services Partner of the Year. In addition, MSB received the Corporate Partnership Award from American Airlines Center, Center Operating Company.
